Accelerating Young Minds Preschool Preparedness
By the age of two, toddlers’ brains are as active as those of adults. By the age of three, the brains of children are two and a half times more active than the brains of adults—brains stay that way throughout the first decade of life. 85 percent of a child’s brain size development takes place by the age of 5/6. Real world experiences that occur for a child during the first years of life have an enormous impact on the intellectual growth of each and every child throughout the child’s lifetime. Parents have a major role in the developmental outcome of their children’s abilities as these children grow and seek their futures.
